Different Kinds of Guitar Effects Pedals
There are many guitar enthusiasts today who have that great ambition to sound like their favorite band. And there are many who get frustrated by the fact that they can play all of the bands famous songs but they fail to sound like them at all. Guitar effects can now be achieved using guitar effects pedals which can help you copy the sounds that your favorite band produces. Perhaps you have heard about these but have not tried getting one for yourself. If you use a guitar effects pedal then you might be able to overcome your frustration by the ability to produce the sound that your favorite band produces. There are many different sounds produced by your favorite band, but if you use an individual effect pedal, they you can copy one of the sounds produced. To be able to pick the right individual effect pedal, you need to know what sound you want to achieve.
So what you can do is to visit your local music store and try out different effect pedals so that you can hear the sounds for yourself. If you love punk, meta, blues overdrive, grunge, etc. then you can try the distortion pedals which produce sounds for these music genres. Activate the sound effect only needs a step on the pedal once while you are playing your guitar. Stepping on it turns on the sound and if you want to turn it off, then you step on the pedal again. You can only find the sound that you like by trying the different pedals. Activation of the pedal is done by stepping on it once and the same is true for turning it off. Another type of effect is the digital delay effect which is a low repetition of the last note played. If you want a smooth element to your sound, then you can try the chorus effect. They also follow the same operation for activation and stopping.
Some pedals, however, are used differently. There are wah pedals that are used by first stepping all the way down the pedal to activate the switch and then gently rocked back and forth to produce the “wah” effect. There are also volume pedals that you rock pack and forth to increase or decrease the volume gradually. The whammy pedal is also rocked back and forth and it simulates the use of a whammy bar for electric guitars. This is ideal if your guitar does not have a whammy or if you don’t want to use them.
You can also find multi-effects pedals in stores. In this one pedal, many different guitar effects are provided. It is expensive because you get many effects but economical because you only need to buy one unit. Distortion pedal, single tap action, rocking pedal for wah, volume, and whammy effects can be found in a single multi-effect pedal. -However, multi-effect pedals are reputed to have inferior quality to those of individual pedals.
